Rainwatch Alliance Meeting, March 2018, Kampala

9th March 2018

Evidence for Development’s Dr Celia Petty was invited by the Walker Institute to participate in a Rainwatch Alliance meeting in Kampala this week.

Rainwatch is a voluntary alliance of African National Meteorology departments, which publishes both historic and current rainfall and temperature data from weather stations across its 14 member countries.

Rainwatch is owned and driven entirely by professionals within National Met services, and a range of analytical products has been developed by the Alliance. The group is looking at ways that its climate information products can be made increasingly relevant to farmers and policy makers, and we hope to work with them in exploring how to analyse and interpret the implications of Rainwatch’s annual and seasonal forecasts.
